Empower & Protect State Pilot
BUILDING STATE INFRASTRUCTURE FOR MULTI-ENTITY WORK
Empower & Protect is a capacity-building program that builds state and movement infrastructure to help emergent state-based power-building nonprofits do bold work safely in election years. The capacity needs of multi-entity power-building organizations are complex and unique. Tax and campaign finance laws vary state by state. So do the strategies, tactics, and legal entities best suited to build durable power in each state.
Empower & Protect expands access to the technical assistance support, training, tools and resources, and access to legal and compliance expertise that power building organizations need. The program reduces risk, strengthens compliance and capacity, and expands the strategies that nonprofits can use to win critical battles while protecting the tax status of the 501(c)(3).
